Established in 2007, a group of Saylorville Yacht Club sailors wanted to share their love and passion of sailing with Iowans across the state. The SYCSS is a not-for-profit, 501(c)3 organization whose mission is to educate and coach people who want to learn to sail and hone their skills all the while promoting water and boat safety. Although SYCSS does not yet have a permanent location, we partner with local organizations like the Polk City Library, Suntex Marinas (Saylorville Yacht Club Marina), and others to help us achieve our goals in developing a passion and interest in sailing.
Our instructors are US Sailing Certified Instructors - US Sailing is the national association promoting education, race management, and support to sailor across the US. US Sailing is also the organization that trains, selects, and manages the Team USA Olympians and Paralympians. For more on US Sailing, you can visit: ussailing.org.
The SYCSS' affiliate organization, the Saylorville Yacht Club (SYC) continues to be a proud supporter of the SYCSS.

Sailing with a crew is like a very coordinated dance with partners; you have to learn to trust, teach, train, and talk with your team, you can only ever get better and it is never perfect. |
